The Lake Agnes Tea House is a small, rustic tea house situated on the eastern shores of Lake Agnes in Alberta at an elevation of 2,135 meters (7,005 feet). The tea house was originally built in 1901 by the Canadian Pacific Railway as a shelter for hikers. It began serving tea in 1905. The tea house was expanded over the years to accommodate an increase in demand. It has been called the oldest teahouse in Canada.
In 1981 the tea house was completely rebuilt in a final expansion as the building seen today. The original red door, windows, tables and chairs were preserved and included in the new design.
There is no running water and electricity. Supplies have to be transported manually by workers, via horse or flown in by helicopter. Staff members bring fresh supplies during the hike up and carry garbage during their hike down.

The Lake Agnes Tea House offers a variety of over 100 different types of teas in front of the stone fireplace. Because there is no electricity, all of the water has to be boiled before use and no food requiring refrigeration is offered.
